Environment and climate central in Green Agenda electoral campaign - ATM

Alyansa Tigil Mina (ATM) stressed the intent of putting in front and center environment and

climate issues that impact the lives of the poor in the electoral campaign of the Green Agenda, an

initiative formally launched today through a press conference.

Jaybee Garganera, ATM National Coordinator, said that “environment and climate concerns are

directly linked to food, jobs and health of Filipinos.”

We offer the Green Agenda to all candidates as a reference to improve their platforms of

governance and public service,” said Garganera. “We call on the Filipino voters to use a ‘green

lens’ in performing their duty to vote and select the new set of leaders.

The Green Agenda is a continuing effort since 2016 of a broad movement of communities,

environmentalists, faith-based organizations, human rights defenders and various sectors.

The Green Agenda 2025 campaign is a commitment to serve the people and to re-connect with

the environment and Mother Earth,” said Garganera. “We hope that this coming together of

various groups sends the right message that it takes solidarity among all sectors and communities

to deliver sustainable development and genuine freedoms for Filipinos.

The Green Agenda 2025 thematic areas are the following:

1. Preserving ecological integrity and biodiversity and preventing further loss or destruction.

2. Natural resource management, land use management and governance.

3. Sustainable agriculture and fisheries;

4. Waste management.

5. Climate Justice.

6. Mining and extractives.

7. Energy transformation and democracy.

8. Pro-people and pro-ecology sustainable development.
