ATM Reaction to SC’s Writ of Kalikasan in Brooke’s Point

The Writ of Kalikasan issued by the Supreme Court against the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Celestial Nickel Mining Exploration Corp. and Ipilan Nickel Corp. is great news that encourages environmental advocates like us to continue our resistance against mining in the communities.

Particular to Brooke’s Point, Palawan, the decision boosts the spirit of residents and environmental defenders who have been fighting against the destruction of the environment.

The issuance of the writ is a victory of the indigenous communities in Brooke’s Point., who stood their ground and resisted the illegal entry of Ipilan Nickel Corp and Celestial Nickel Mining Exploration Corp. This is equally a validation of the strong and consistent stand of the local government of Brooke’s Point in ensuring the welfare of its constituents.
